JPEG is the most used file format and can store lots of images on a memory card. TIFF are uncompressed files that are bigger and takes up more space. RAW files are for if you want the highest quality files. DNG files is a main or alternative to RAW files. PNG files are used for the internet and good for overlays and logos. GIF files are for the internet and good for images with limited color palette. BMP files are high-quality files good for print but not web. PSD files is used for Adobe Photoshop to allow you to come back and edit specific layers.
